The first release of 2012 looks backwards but looks to the future with a huge set of remixes of Rossi B & Luca’s lost grime classic ‘Mind The Gap’ featuring original grime don Flirta D. The track was due to come out on the mighty A.R.M.Y back in the day but fate conspired against it and it has remained a secret weapon for a select few DJs.
This release presents the classic original for the first time and it bears all the hallmarks of classic grime with orchestral stabs, swirling samples and booming bass accompanied by Flirta’s signature wordplay. Grime remixes come from two of the best in the current scene, Spooky and Teeza. The former upping the ante on the original with robotic percussion and nasty synths, the former slicing together a classic break and booming 808s for his ‘Temix’. Mutant bass man of the moment Submerse wears his bassline rave hat for a bouncing bassline remix with just the right amount of ’92 and Sarantis turns it up to 160bpm for a menacing juke tempo missile. Old school, new school, bridging the gap.
